You know ad sales are the name of the game. But how do you leverage your web site to sell new kinds of ads to your ongoing print ad base?
One possibility: local directories with snappy new features. Whether a business directory, church directory, school directory, organization directory, or listing of area attractions, listing services are extremely popular. ThinPaper directories are more than just listings, however. They're interactive, fun, colorful, informative, and well-linked. Click here to see a sample business directory. (Hint: try clicking any ''More Info'' button.)
Free initial listings
We recommend creating an initial directory listing (name, address, and phone, with automatic map link, in one category) for each prospect at no charge. This adds value to your web site, making your site an easy place for readers to locate contact information for local establishments at top speed.
Paid enhancements add color, information, and ad revenue
Once the directory is online, add a few enhanced listings as samples. Then show your current advertisers what they're missing. They can add an email address, fax number, and web site link; ''more info'' text blocks (either one or two); small graphic ads that show in the listings; and large clickable directory ads, each for a small fee. It's simple for those businesses who prefer to be found more easily to add their listing to an additional category.
Directory revenue projections (annual)
Our standard online directory rate is free for a standard listing, and $12 per year for an enhanced listing including email, fax number, and web site. Each additional enhancement is only $1 per year.
With 30 directory listings, 20 of them enhanced at some level, you net as much as $275. Triple the number of enhanced listings to 60, and you net as much as $824 per year.
